can you apply over comp

Can you apply over a compostion tile roof? If so will it take more product to use?? It states 50sq ft per gallon..will it be the same for one coat. I have used another rubber roof seal product and had a difficult time spreading even and used more product that it said it could cover, and still I had leaks...Thank you.

regarding shingles not the appearance would not be nice and you would have to be sure you can get under each of the shingles to fully coat the entire area
