Pull out leaves/twigs/bugs before cured, or let stay?

Question

I will be applying liquid rubber outside where a lot of debris is constantly falling off the trees above. Since the cured time is so long, do I try to pull out the leaves and twigs I will invariably have to deal with, or "leaf" them in place? ;) Will the rubber fill back in the void I make by pulling out a twig?

unfortunately it will not anything that sticks to it will be difficult to remove
