The roof at the front of the trailer is leaking at 3 or more of the seams.  The front seam is where the fiber glass and steel meet.  I've tried a sealant from an RV repair shop and also the as seen on tv flex seal.  Neither worked well, if at all.  I live in the mountains of Colorado so there are wide temperature fluctuations.  I want to insulate and put up walls inside the dressing area, but can't even leave a mattress inside because the roof leaks.  I keep it covered with a tarp when not in use.  What is the best material to seal and waterproof this roof that will last for a long time?  What kind of prep needs to be done?  Thank you.

Sure the liquid roof can go directly over fiberglass and steel.  Here are the specific substrates and their limitations

Thank you

The following roof types-substrates do NOT require the ProFlex primer only one coat of the Liquid EPDM

  • Various Metal Roofing systems
    • Weathered Galvanized
    • Weathered Aluminum
    • Weathered Copper
  • Any original epdm rubber roofing system
  • Concrete where there is little foot traffic
  • Sprayed Urethane Foam
  • Fiberglass
  • PVC
  • Acrylic Sheet and any acrylic based products
  • Weathered Vinyl

The below roof types- substrates will require one coat of the ProFlex primer prior to application of Liquid EPDM Rubber

  • Built up asphalt roofs-You would first need to apply our ProFlex primer before applying the liquid EPDM.
  • Asphalt shingles-First needing our ProFlex primer
  • Modified asphalt roll roofing - First needing our ProFlex primer
  • Stainless steel-Only if sanded
  • Neither the primer or Liquid EPDM can be applied to glass
  • Silicone caulk-Any silicone caulk needs to be removed and replaced with either butyl or acrylic caulk
  • Heavily trafficked surfaces like decks or porches
  • Hypalon Membrane-ProFlex primer is required first
  • Wood applications that are first primed with our ProFlex primer
  • Any roof where a 3rd party coating such as an elastomeric or acrylic was previous applied
  • TPO
  • Polyurethane foam
